Artist's Statement: This painting explores themes of emergence and overcoming. Before we see the radiance and beauty of a butterfly, it must endure a struggle before breaking through it's chrysalis.
The base of this gallery wrapped canvas include various collage papers. These papers reveal areas of texture that set a foundation for the brushed acrylic media. These applications were sealed and then finished with a layer of oil paints, bringing a brilliance to the colors that speak of hope.
