Artist's Statement: This piece addresses themes of rebirth and renewal that are commonly associated with the blooming of flora and fauna during the spring season. This painting is impressionistic, choosing to highlight certain areas with increased detail and rendering, while leaving other areas of the piece more blurred with strong, visible brush strokes.

Artist Bio: Aliyah Rivka Shuman is a visual artist -primarily utilizing oil paint, graphite pencils, and textile materials- whose work focuses on themes of nature, the human form, mortality, and a critical analysis of religious ideologies, practices, and traditions. She is currently an undergraduate student at Middle Tennessee State University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art (Painting) and a Bachelor of Science in Religious Studies.
